Is there fire on your altar? You no doubt are saying what altar? What is she talking about? Well, I’m referring to the altar of your heart.
Recently I spoke on “Fire on the Altar’ at an event. As I studied the topic, God began to explain that He needed a people to arise with fire on their altar. Red hot fire from the glory of God.
These people would be the ones He would use to bring in the next move of the Spirit. Greater than any previous move. Yes, greater that the first and second Awakenings, Pentecost, Azusa, all of them together.
This fire was first pictured in Moses’s tabernacle on the Brazen Altar. The tabernacle consisted of three parts. The outer court, Inner court and the Holy Of Holies where the Ark of the Covenant resided. The Glory of the Lord descended on the Ark as His resting place and fire from His Glory lit the fire on the Brazen Altar. It was a divine fire that was never to go out. God had lit the fire but the priest were to put wood on it every morning and evening.
People would bring their animal sacrifices to the Brazen Altar and the priest would made an atonement for them before the Lord. {Lev.6:7] The divine fire of God would judge the sin and the person was forgiven. The Brazen Altar foreshadowed the Cross of Jesus Christ.
At the Cross the Fire came out from the Glory of God’s Holiness, and Divine Wrath judged sin in that sacrifice for all mankind. Jesus on the altar of the cross paid the price for our redemption.
Today Roman 12 tells us we are living sacrifices and as the priest in Moses tabernacle we are to put wood on the fire daily. We are to present ourselves daily as a living sacrifice and maintain the Fire of God on our lives.
John the Baptist said in Mathew 3 that he came to baptize in water but one came mightier than him who would baptize with the Holy Spirit and Fire. We talk often about the Holy Spirit but not about the fire. It’s the fire of holiness that the Lord wants to kindle on His people. The sanctifying fire that prepares a people to operate in Kingdom DNA, signs wonders and miracles.
I love this scripture in Titus 2; 11-13 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, 12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
So we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, and as we look forward to the coming of the Lord we allow the Holy Spirit to do a sanctifying work in our lives. Changing us and transforming us into the image of Christ. The key is between grace and anticipating His coming we submit to the sanctifying process fire and all.
Now as I speak of holiness, I’m not talking about a list of do’s and don’ts but of a person. His name is Jesus. I Cor. I: 30 tells us we are in Christ and He is made unto us wisdom, righteousness, sanctification, and redemption. Our Lord is holy and we must be holy too. You need only to listen to the Holy Spirit’s conviction, be obedient and He will change you into the vessel set on fire with signs following. It’s all by faith receiving Him as the sanctifier within.
Many of us are in the fire of circumstances in which the Holy Spirit is separating the clean from the unclean. So like Jesus when approached by the enemy he will find nothing but Jesus in us. So Lord let the Fire fall. Cause our altars to blaze with Your Glory. That the world may know that God sent Jesus and we are now His ambassadors in the earth. Selah!
